UC Davis Moves to a Unified Login Experience for Zoom Videoconferencing & Phone Service

Starting Tuesday, May 27, 2025, members of the campus community will have a more secure, unified login experience when accessing Zoom, the main videoconferencing application and phone service at UC Davis, across all platforms.

Information and Educational Technology (IET) is making this change to protect UC Davis against increasing cybersecurity threats and to meet UC systemwide cybersecurity requirements.

New Microsoft 365 Feature Supports Collaboration Across UC Davis & UC Davis Health

UC Davis Health faculty and staff are getting or now have a new, separate M365 environment, specifically designed to meet privacy, safety, and compliance requirements of health data.  A new feature is coming soon to Microsoft 365 (M365) to support collaboration across UC Davis and UC Davis Health. 

While most at UC Davis are not directly impacted by this change, the way you interact and collaborate with health employees may look a bit different. 

Protect Yourself From Phishing Scams: Hackers Target Duo, Text, and Email

Phishing scams are on the rise at UC Davis and other higher educational institutions. Scammers are impersonating legitimate and trusted sources, such as UCPath, Canvas, and other UC Systems. They are targeting students, faculty, and staff with fake emails, text messages, phone calls, and social media messages to try and obtain passwords, Duo codes, or other sensitive information. 

Do not respond! UC Davis will never ask for your passwords or other sensitive information via email or text message.

Campus Technology Services Now Available Following Weekend Maintenance - Mon. 4/21

Some campus technology services, including Schedule Builder and OASIS student advising, were unavailable earlier on Sunday, April 20, 2025, following a scheduled weekend maintenance for the student information system. These services are now operational. Information and Educational Technology (IET) teams will monitor the student information system infrastructure to ensure continued availability of our services and address any issues that may arise.

Protect Your Zoom: Guidance for Securing Internal and External Virtual Meetings

It’s time to check your Zoom settings – your meetings may be vulnerable to unwelcome, even malicious guests. Pandemic-era Zoom bombing incidents, where unidentified individuals join meetings and display offensive content, are on the rise again.

Members of the campus community are encouraged to take the following steps before scheduling a meeting, familiarize themselves with Zoom settings, and if needed, make the recommended changes.

Cisco Unity Voicemail System Update: March 25, 2025

Beginning March 25, 2025, UC Davis will update the Cisco Unity Voicemail System to free up storage space for users and to provide consistency between campus phone systems. On this date two changes will take effect, impacting only Cisco phone users.

Annual Wireless Update – You May Receive a Prompt

An important update will happen soon to eduroam, the UC Davis wireless network. Depending on your device, you may need to accept it to continue accessing the campus internet.

On Thursday, February 6, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., campus will install a new electronic security certificate for eduroam. This means you may receive a prompt on your phone or other device, asking you to accept the update.

UPDATE: Switch to the Duo Mobile App: Less Secure Login Options Ending 2/26

February 23, 2025: A grace period has been added for the following Duo changes. Phone callbacks, texts, HOTP, and D-100 hard token support will be discontinued February 26, 2025.

February 24, 2025 Summary

Due to growing cybersecurity threats and to meet new login requirements from the University of California Office of the President (UCOP), UC Davis will no longer support less secure login methods for Duo. Starting Wednesday, February 26, 2025:
