Video Materials Intermittently Unavailable in Canvas – May 13, 2025

Issue with Kaltura Media Gallery in Canvas has been resolved.

Kaltura Media Gallery is now available in Canvas. IET teams are monitoring the service for any issues that may arise.

IET is monitoring Kaltura Media Gallery in Canvas, following an update rolled out earlier today. The solution was identified in collaboration with Instructure, the company that powers Canvas, and Kaltura. More updates will be available on Monday, May 19.

Kaltura Media Gallery, the tool hosting video materials in Canvas, continues to be intermittently unavailable. An update will be posted once more information is available.

Kaltura Media Gallery, the tool hosting video materials in Canvas, continues to be intermittently unavailable.  UC Davis has engaged with the vendor on a resolution as a priority.

Information and Educational Technology (IET) is investigating reports that Kaltura Media Gallery, the tool hosting video materials in Canvas, is intermittently unavailable. 

• Starting approximately Sunday, May 11, 2025, students and faculty may not be able to consistently access video materials in Canvas and may receive an “application error message.”
• Instructors can continue to record videos. These videos will be available when the Media Gallery issue is resolved.
• AggieVideo, also powered by Kaltura, is not impacted. 

This is a vendor-driven outage not limited to UC Davis. Updates will be posted as they become available at status.ucdavis.edu.
