UC Davis Canvas Now Available – Sat., 5/9

UC Davis Canvas is once again available. Our technology teams completed additional security reviews after Canvas was brought back online.

Some features will not be available immediately, as they were disabled to protect the security of Canvas and your data during this incident, and will take additional time to restore.

Information and Educational Technology (IET) applied several fixes that are expected to improve internet connectivity and related services, including videoconferencing platforms. We continue to monitor performance and appreciate your ongoing feedback. Please report any connectivity and/or audio/video issues, including your location and the date/time of the occurrence, to IT Express or your departmental IT support.

The next UC Davis Information Security Symposium will be held virtually as two half conference days on May 12-13, 2026.  
The symposium is a recurring IT security conference hosted by the University of California, Davis, and is open to students, faculty, and staff in the UC system and sponsor partners.
The 2026 theme is ENGAGE, highlighting the power of inclusion, collaboration, and shared responsibility in cybersecurity.

New Microsoft 365 Feature Supports Collaboration Across UC Davis & UC Davis Health

UC Davis Health faculty and staff are getting or now have a new, separate M365 environment, specifically designed to meet privacy, safety, and compliance requirements of health data.  A new feature is coming soon to Microsoft 365 (M365) to support collaboration across UC Davis and UC Davis Health. 

While most at UC Davis are not directly impacted by this change, the way you interact and collaborate with health employees may look a bit different.

UC Davis has increasingly become a target of fraudulent emails, also known as phishing, in recent weeks. Here is everything you need to know about phishing scams and actions you can take to keep yourself safe.

What is phishing?

Phishing is a form of fraud that tries to trick you into providing your sensitive information, often by sending a message under the guise of a legitimate sender, such as a professor or campus staff member.

Now, we don’t suggest taking a digital break from tech during working hours if your job utilizes technology. Instead, intentionally choose some hours or days during your free time and go offline. If you’re thinking this is a terrible idea, please keep reading! We promise your mental and physical health will thank you if you accept this challenge.
