Google Ending “Check mail from other accounts” Option in Gmail
This January, Google is ending the ability to check email from other accounts in your Gmail inbox. The company is ending support for POP or Post Office Protocol, which fetches emails from third-party accounts into Gmail.
At UC Davis, this change only impacts those who have configured their DavisMail (UC Davis Gmail) with the POP protocol to receive email from other accounts.
- Your UC Davis email is not impacted.
- You can continue to read and send emails from your other account in the Gmail app for Android, iPhone, and iPad, which uses a standard IMAP connection.
What is Happening?
Throughout the month of January, Google will be ending support for checking emails from third-party accounts through POP. Once support ends, you will no longer see “Check mail from other accounts” as an option in Gmail on your computer.
