Update Your Duo Mobile App by 4/15
Update April 8, 2025: A grace period has been added to the following Duo update. Duo requires users to update their apps to versions 4.85.0 or newer by April 15, 2026. The original deadline was March 31, 2025.
After this date, unless you use the newer app version, you will be unable to verify your identity with Duo Push, and in some cases, biometrics such as Touch ID/Face ID.

Aggies, if you haven’t updated your Duo Mobile App in a while, you may need to take action to keep your account and data safe. UC Davis recommends updating to the latest version of the app by April 15, 2026. Follow the directions below to find which version of the app you have on your device and how to update.
Duo is requiring users to update their app to at least version 4.85.0 by April 15, 2026, because of an expiring certificate. Those who do not update will be unable to verify their identity through Duo Push and in some cases, biometrics such as Touch ID/Face ID. Those who cannot update their Duo app because their mobile device does not support version 4.85.0 or newer may use Duo-generated temporary passcodes or purchase a Security Key to verify their identity.
What is happening?
Duo is the multi-factor authentication tool UC Davis uses to protect student, faculty and staff accounts, university websites, and institutional data. The upcoming change is due to an expiring certificate that impacts all versions of Duo. Duo is requiring all users to update their apps to versions 4.85.0 or newer by April 15, 2026. UC Davis recommends updating to the latest version of the Duo App (4.107.0).
Take Action Before April 15, 2026
For most, the Duo Mobile App will update automatically. However, if you have disabled automatic app updates on your device or are running an outdated operating system the update may need to be done manually.
- Check the version of the Duo Mobile App you have on your digital device. If outdated, you may receive a prompt.
- If you are using an app version older than 4.85.0, update your app in your device’s app store. We recommend updating to the most recent version of the Duo Mobile App, 4.107.0.
- To update your Duo app on your mobile device, visit the Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android), search for Duo Mobile, and tap Update.
- If your device does not support a newer version of the Duo Mobile App, you can switch to Duo-generated temporary passcodes or a Security Key (available for purchase).
