Introducing Duo Central: New Device Management Page, Same Secure Duo
Story updated to change deployment date from February 28, 2024, to Spring 2024.
The next time you register a new device on Duo through the UC Davis Computing Account Services website, you will see a new and improved interface. Duo, the university’s multi-authentication application that protects campus accounts and data, is upgrading to Duo Central in Spring 2024.
The update will happen automatically and will not require any action from users.
What will the new interface look like?
Duo Central will improve the look, feel, and function of the current process used to update or enroll a device for multi-step authentication. Users will still be able to access all the currently available features, such as designating a primary device, choosing a preferred authentication method, and registering new smartphones or tablets.
Why is Duo making this change?
Upgrading to Duo Central is part of Duo and UC Davis’s efforts to improve the user experience and strengthen security. It is one of several changes Duo has implemented over the last year. At the end of 2023, Duo upgraded to a Universal Prompt, making it safer for Aggies to access their email, online storage, and other technology and university services. As Duo works to protect you, Information and Educational Technology (IET) asks that you also do your part to keep your information and UC Davis safe. Remember to only approve login attempts that you have initiated and reject authentication requests you are not expecting.
