Reporting Security Incidents on Campus
Types of Incidents to Report
Any time your computer or personal information has been compromised, whether by theft, hacking, a virus, unauthorized use of campus network access -- or any time you witness an inappropriate or offensive use of campus email or networks -- you should report the incident.
Where to Send Reports
Computer security incidents reports should go to email@example.com. If you suspect a crime has been committed, notify the UC Davis Police at (530) 752-1727; 911 in an emergency.
Information to Include
Security incident reports should provide as much detail as possible, including:
- Date of Incident
- Time of Incident
- Location of Incident
- Type (theft, hacking, etc.)
- Brief description
- How was the incident discovered?
- Who discovered the incident?
- Any other useful information
What Happens Next
If your system has been infected or any personal data has been lost, campus resources can help you through the steps of recovery.
