Reporting Security Incidents on Campus
Types of Incidents to Report
Anytime your computer or personal information has been compromised, whether that involves theft, hacking, a virus, unauthorized use of campus network access, or anytime you are witness to an inappropriate or offensive use of campus email or networks, you should report the incident.
Where to Send Reports
Computer security incidents reports should go to abuse@ucdavis.edu. If you suspect a crime has been committed, notify the UC Davis Police at (530) 752-1727; 911 in an emergency.
Information to Include
Security incident reports should provide as much detail as possible, including:
- Date of Incident
- Time of Incident
- Location of Incident
- Type (theft, hacking, etc.)
- Brief description
- How was the incident discovered?
- Who discovered the incident?
- Any other useful information

If your system has been infected or any personal data has been lost, campus resources can help you through the steps of recovery.
